Learn Violin

Violin lessons at Capen Music are available for all ages and levels, from toddlers taking their first steps in music to advanced students working towards higher grades.

Lessons are one-to-one and follow ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses. Violin comes in smaller sizes for younger students, making it one of the best instruments to start early.

Students can start as young as 3 to 4 years old. Adults and seniors are equally welcome.

Common Questions

Violin can be started from as young as 3 to 4 years old. Smaller violin sizes (1/16, 1/10, 1/8 and so on) are available for young students, so the instrument always fits the child.

For lessons, our studios have instruments available. However, for regular practice at home, having your own violin is important. We can advise on the right size and a suitable price range.

Violin does require patience and consistent practice, especially in the early stages. With a good teacher and regular practice, students make clear progress. Starting young makes the journey easier.

No. Exams are optional. Lessons can be recreational or performance-focused without any formal assessments.

Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes depending on age, level and goals.
